For Immediate Release: December 27, 2022 Village issues water conservation advisory

(Freeburg, IL.) – The Village of Freeburg has issued a Water Conservation Advisory until further notice for all water system customers. Due to the extremely cold weather, the SLM water plant is dealing with low water storage levels. The water plant is operating at a substantially reduced capacity which affects the water storage levels of all the communities that purchase water from the SLM Water Commission including the Village of Freeburg.

Village Hall will notify its customers when the Water Conservation Advisory is lifted.

Please know the water quality is monitored very closely and is safe to drink and use.

No boil water advisory is being issued at this time.

We are asking customers to conserve water and immediately report any loss of pressure or visible leaks by calling (618) 539-5545.

The Village is asking residents to observe the following water conservation practices until this advisory is lifted:

  • Refrain from washing cars
  • Only wash full loads of clothes and dishes
  • Take showers instead of baths.
