Direct
Debit
After
considering various options for making the utility bill payment
process more convenient, the Village of Freeburg plans to accept
Direct Debit payments for utility bills if a sufficient number of
residents sign up for the service. There will be no charge to
residents for the service. There is, however, a cost to the
village so the program may be cancelled if there is insufficient
participation.
For
residents who sign up for the service, payments will be
automatically deducted from their checking or savings account on
or about the 7th of each month. The service will avoid the cost
and inconvenience of check writing, mailing, or delivering
payments to village hall. Late fees will also be eliminated for
those who use the service providing sufficient funds are available
in their account when the Direct Debit occurs. Participating
customers will continue to receive printed bills so they will
always know how much their account will be debited.
Application
forms are available at village hall and here on the website.
Interested residents may also call village hall at 539-5545 to
have forms mailed to them. The forms can be returned in person, by
mail, or by placing in the night drop box at village hall. Click

ST. CLAIR COUNTY WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM The Weatherization Program is now accepting names for the application process for the Program Year. The Weatherization Program provides low-income families with a grant for labor, materials and installation needed to weatherize their home, furnace repairs or replacement. Last year, more than 175 households were helped by funding made available from this program.

EMERGENCY
CONTACT DATABASE The Illinois Secretary of State’s office established the Emergency Contact Database on July 1, 2009. The database allows Illinois driver’s license and ID cardholders to enter emergency contact information into a voluntary, secure database. In the event of a motor vehicle crash or other emergency situation when a person is unable to communicate directly, law enforcement may access the database to help them reach the person’s designated contacts.
